Reason for Playing: Well for starters, I have always wanted to play this genderbend of Karkat in a game, and that was a complete selling point. Also, Majora's Mask is like, my absolute favorite Legend of Zelda game. Ever. As for what I would like to do with her, I can say that I would really like for her to get into shenanigans with the canon Homestuck cast that will come in. Additionally, I would like for her to get into a little bit of trouble. Nothing long term, but enough that she gets involved in something sketchy and has to get reprimanded for it. I definitely know that provided it's possible, I would LOVE to see her transformed into a deku scrub at one point. I know that I would like for her to actually get to meet her OU counterparts.
And also get heckled by theCreepy Happy Mask Salesman.
CHARACTER INFORMATION
Name: Arkata Vantas
Canon: Homestuck
Character Type: Alternate Universe: Genderbend!
Age: 13 years/6 solar sweeps
Gender: A girl! But...trolls. Xenobiology and whatnot.
Species: Alternian Troll!
Appearance: http://i.imgur.com/r6rVa.png
Arkata shares some of the same physical traits of Karkat in that she is:
a. Tiny. She stands at about 4'10" tall, so she's bitty.
b. She still has the tiny little nubby horns (hers are a slight bit smaller since smaller horns seem to be more common in female trolls)
c. She still has very tired eyes, again a tie back to Karkat not sleeping much.
d. Hair is a complete mess. Princess of bedhead.
In addition to that, Arkata is also somewhat curvy and has a tiny bit of pudge to her. Unlike Karkat her stagnant position on the computer all the time has kind of caught up with her so she has a tiny bit of weight around her tummy, but she tries to cover it up by wearing somewhat looser clothing than the other girls she knows. She frequently tries to tie her hair back too, but it often just falls back into her face so she gives up after a few tries and just lets it hang down.
Canon Point: Technically the last point she was seen in her universe. So, in accordance to the canon story, it was after the Penis Ouija event, even though Arkata's universe might be a few hours to a day ahead of the canon story.
Background: http://mspaintadventures.wikia.com/wiki/Karkat_Vantas"
For the most part, Arkata's history actually follows the same as Karkat's although with different character relations and conflicts than with Karkats. Where things generally seem to shift for the most part is in how she handles everything thrown at her. In some instances she actually reacts better than Karkat had, and in some instances, worse. Other things just remained entirely the same.
For example...
Karkat's very first pesterlog to John (the THIS IS YOUR GOD SPEAKING one) is one of the few things that remained somewhat the same between Arkata and Karkat. Whereas Karkat was very insulting and rude to John, Arkata uses more flowery, condescending language. Whereas Karkat is verbose and longwinded, Arkata is blunt, to the point, and sharper-witted with her insults.
Another instance is that of the x5 Troll Standoff in which Karkat pap-shooshed the raging Gamzee into submission. In Arkata's universe, there is a notable difference as to how the scene played out, mainly due to the case of them both being girls, rather than guys. She actually waited longer than Karkat had to approach her universe's Gamzee before--instead of initially trying to calm her down through the pap-shoosh gesture, she actually attempted diplomacy and tried to rationalize with the other troll first. When this didn't work, instead of pap-shooshing, she was more willing to just latch on to this Gamzee and hug her until she calmed down.
In regards to a more recent update, when Dave and Karkat were having the fight over Terezi and the weird troll romance novel, Arkata was a lot more petty with her argument with her AU's Dave. Instead of it turning into two guys awkwardly wrestling and drawing penises all throughout a book, it wound up to involve more physical fighting and name calling, and a fair bit of chewing on one another. Arkata is more likely to give up fighting though--like she actually did in this scenario--and just rely more heavily on using immature insults to win her arguments.
In the aspect of her blood being found out by Jack Noir, early on, she had a similar, but different reaction than Karkat. When Karkat got terrified over his stabbing, and his secret being found out, Arkata got more defensive and tried to put it off as not being a big deal, because she didn't want to cause a scene about this random stranger that had just stabbed her. She tried to make it seem like she didn't care that she was a freak among her species. Also in regards to her relationship with her universe's Jack, she reacted differently than Karkat did after being killed on Prospit. Instead of immediately going on the authority-based offensive that Karkat went into after his dream self died, Arkata just became more reserved, as she was more willing to show that she was hurt and betrayed by someone she thought she could trust. To put it simply, she was pulling the "I'm fine." card.
A final major instance of where Arkata reacted differently than Karkat is when Eridan came into the meteor and started to insist that everyone just give up and become allies with Jack. Karkat had never actually intervened to stop anything that transpired in this scene, but Arkata actually wound up saying something and getting involved here, but only after it was too late. She initially did witness the entire event, completely in shock, but before her universe's Eridan aimed to kill their Kanaya, she attempted to intervene, trying to fill an Ashen quadrant between them and keep them from fighting it out. For a short period in Arkata's universe there was a temporary moiraillegiance between her and her Eridan, but once she intervened between the two parties here, the palerom was off as Eridan basically forced Arkata to sacrifice her quadrant to try and save the life of another friend.
Generally, female trolls tend to be the more aggressive ones of the species, Arkata is a bit of an exception. She knows she's small and a bit more on the heavier side, so she tries to avoid actually getting into fights. It's a confidence issue with her, since she thinks her size will make it easier for other people to win. However, she's just as mean spirited when it comes to fighting someone as any other troll, she just has a slight aversion to getting into fights, and would much rather make you feel terrible about yourself instead.
One of the final major differences between Arkata's universe and Karkat's is that she has been able to not only watch her universe's John growing up on Earth, but she has gained access to watching the canon trolls universe as well, thinking it to be this very well thought out joke. She buys that this other universe is real, but she's skeptical about most of it. To put it a little more specifically, her universe can be said to be one act ahead of where the trolls are in canon right now. Everything has mostly remained the same, just Arkata's actions vary. In addition, her universe's Tavros (F), Nepeta (M), Vriska (M), Equius (F), Eridan (F) and Feferi (M), are all dead, just the same as in canon. One final little difference was that Arkata attempted to FLARP (like LARPing but more extreme) with some of the others at one point, but she found that it was too much of imaginary funsies-playtime, and didn't satisfy her need to be seen as just the same as everyone else, due to her insecurities about blood and height.
Personality:
Arkata's personality is where she really does differ from Karkat. While still an easy to anger, sarcastic, insult-slinging, and insecure rage-bucket, she's still got some more charm to her. She still watches terrible romantic comedies, and reads terrible romantic novels, and she still has those wild dreams of becoming a threshsecutioner. However, she's a little bit more down to earth and understanding of how unlikely that last bit is. Unlike Karkat, she doesn't get teased as much for her love of romantic movies and books, because hey, it's almost a little bit more understandable for a girl to like those things. With a guy, that's just weird. However, she does get teased for the quality of the films she watches. She likes to claim that they're stunning indie films, when in reality? They're just sub-par, film school projects with atrocious acting. Yet somehow, they make Arkata's bloodpusher go dokidoki. Let's move away from movies.
Arkata still shares the likelihood to rage, and go on long tangents about why she doesn't like someone, and frankly, just like Karkat, they can be rather endless and no one ever listens to them. However, she doesn't do as many through means of text entries as much. Her rants are more face to face. While Karkat sometimes goes on a short tangent in front of people, Arkata has full on speeches. She will get on top of a chair, or a table and begin her rant, and if anyone so much as turns away from her, she will deliberately keep the rant going. Essentially, you could say she has a lot of feelings, and she wants everyone to know about her feelings. Oh feelings. That's a good place to start.
She is still overly insecure about her red blood. Actually, possibly more so than Karkat is. Overall, Arkata has always been insecure about her appearance. For a troll--and particularly for a girl troll--she is really short, reaching only about 4'10", and she's always packed a little bit of weight on to her. (Crabmom knew of Arkata's mutant blood, and made a point of seeing to it that if she had ever gotten lost, or was without food, with no means of getting back, she wouldn't starve). And she's been insecure about this her entire life. Honestly, what good is an undersized and overweight troll to society anyways? Really. It stuck with her, and she still hasn't come to terms that both of them could be used as an advantage. When she started to learn how to FLARP with some of the others of her universe, she started to learn how her tiny stature was actually a benefit to some times. However, she gave it up after a while because she wanted more of a rush from it.
But then when it comes to blood color, she gets to be more defensive about it, rather than Karkat who just seems to brush off the question. She starts to get angry and snap at people when they ask her about it, as if they're asking her if she just killed someone and was overly guilty of it (granted, as a troll, that analogy doesn't make total sense, but it gets the point across.) She's very likely to threaten someone (provided she knows that they are a threat to her) or just become really aggressive verbally. Granted, because of her rather angry reactions, it was suspected really early on (probably earlier than with Karkat) that she was a lowblood, or had something weird going on with her.
When it comes to arguments or fighting with someone, while Arkata is capable of being just as verbose as Karkat when she wants to be, she has found that short, quick insults work a lot better with some people. And yet, some of the things she says to people are really just a defense mechanism for herself, as she is very prone to calling other people fat or ugly, because it makes her feel better. This doesn't mean her long winded, and rather creative insults aren't unheard of. She just thinks it has more of an effect on others if she's really short with them. However, since she is a girl, and female trolls have shown to be more violent and more likely to attack someone, if someone really pushes her, Arkata can get a bit uncontrollable and is all about trying to make whoever fucked with her, pay. Granted, she's more than likely going to back off the second she gets hurt because the reality starts to sink in that her blood might show and she needs to hide it quickly. So she's prone to starting fights--but never finishing them. Because of this some of the other girls see her as being a bit of a wimp (and continue to tease her about her size) since Arkata has never actually won a fight with anyone.
However, despite how Arkata is almost constantly getting into spats with the other trolls, she has this weird ability to mother some of the others. It's not so much of a "there, there. everything will be OK." style. It's more like a throw back to how Karkat feels responsible if someone in the party gets hurt. Arkata tries to take care of everyone, making sure that everyone is at least doing alright. Even if she doesn't like that. She feels like it's become her responsibility to take care of anyone in the game since she still shares that feeling of everything being "her fault." So even if she can't stand someone, she still feels the need to take care of them so she doesn't seem like a fuck up any more than she already is.
In canon, Karkat thinks he's pretty hot shit at computer programming, coming up with some stellar codes. Now, Arkata tried doing that. But she realized pretty quickly that this was not for her. Instead, she turned to video games, thanks to the Sollux of her universe. Usually, Arkata would play online with some of the guys she knew, who proceeded to tell her that she was great at gaming. But the second she started to play with Sollux she had it dropped on her that she was pretty much absolute shit at gaming. And being the hothead she is, she got pissed and denied any such shit-gaming, standing by the words of her male friends, assuming she was amazing at video games.
Arkata also seems to complain a lot more than Karkat, although she isn't as verbal. She keeps her whining contained to grumpy noises and just passing off dirty looks to whatever might be frustrating her at the moment. She makes it known that she's pissed off, but she chooses to be quieter--unless it's something that will shortly build into a rant. And then everyone hears it.
Powers: Arkata doesn't have all that many magical powers. Most of her powers come through that of physical strength or skills that aren't even remotely magical. The only thing that canonly can be said about Karkat in regards to anything remotely magical is that of his ability to "papshoosh" people who may be in a moment of distress. While it hasn't been confirmed as something magical or not, or just a skill Karkat has, it's probably the only remotely magical power that Karkat/Arkata has.
Other than that, Arkata is skilled in fighting, overly analyzing bad movies, overseeing and advising people in regards to their relationships, and being a raging lunatic when things don't go her way.
What Arkata is good at at mostly skills that are tied towards physical and social skills. Instead of magical skills, she's more focused in the following:
Combat with sickles: Every troll on Alternia seems to be proficient with one weapon. Like Karkat, Arkata favors a pair of battle sickles, which she has become rather skilled with, especially though playing SGRUB.
Romantic Comedies and other Romantic Hobbies: Arkata, like her male counterpart, does have a love of watching and reading through any sort of media focusing on the romantic escapades of others. And in turn, she has started to learn how to mediate and oversee the relationships of others. She has done a lot of study on relationships and romance so she's become very informed about the topic, and knows a lot about it.
Video Games: She's not that fantastic at it. But she plays a lot of video games and knows the mechanics of how they run. She knows a lot of trivial stuff about game stats, and battle classes.
Intellectual Diplomacy: While she isn't phenomenal at it...Arkata, when she wants to is really good at talking her way out of less than wonderful situations. So if she were to get caught in a tough spot, she might be able to work things out.
Shoosh-Pap: While it's still speculated exactly what and how this is works, it can still be seen as one of her skills. At the instance of the Highly Dangerous x5 Trollian Standoff, Karkat was shown basically approaching those participating in the standoff and calming them down, and then approaching Gamzee Makara and calming him down almost entirely, from being a raging lunatic to being mellow and settled down. Arkata has the same skill. It simply involves approaching someone in distress and just lightly patting their cheek, and whispering to them until they're brought down. However, it's still not known if this is considered a magic power or if she just is good at talking to people.
Items: Arkata will be brought in with the following within her sylladex:
One (1) copy of a horrible, trashy troll romance novel.
Two (2) sickles used for combat.
One (1) small package of hair ties.
Four hundred and twenty-six thousand, nine hundred and fourteen (426,914) boonbucks which will be rendered useless upon arrival.
One (1) thermos of cold troll coffee
One (1) horrible drawing done by her universe's Terezi.
As well as the clothes on her back.
Instrument: She'll be using a ten-string lyre. She's a small girl, so she gets a small instrument. She does not know how to play it, so she'll probably be dumbly plucking strings for a while. It looks something like this:

Needless to say, Arkata wasn't in her niche. First of all. It was daylight. Second of all...she was the only troll from her universe here. It was a little unnerving. Sure, she'd run into other trolls, others who were so much like the ones she knew, but just...the opposite sex. It was strange and unsettling to her. Frankly, she was kind of lonely. But hey, things could be worse. She could be...back on the meteor trying to keep a certain smelly human girl from messing with her, and she could be trying to keep the boy she thought she was red for (for the longest time!) from making her angry.
So here she was. In a strange town. On a strange planet. Filled with absolutely no means of getting home. And on top of all of that. She had this freaking instrument. Arkata had never played music in her entire life. It wasn't her thing. She had somehow managed to slip past one of the guards in that little town and made her way out into the field. Oh god, it was even brighter without all these buildings in the way. She wandered around for a moment, having found herself along the beach, debating for a second going into the sand and going towards the water's edge. She liked the water, always had. So, what could be bad about her going through the sand and going to take a seat by the water's edge...
Perhaps the leevers shooting out of the sand to attack her could be something that was bad. And just like that, Arkata was at a sprint, and she'd pulled her sickles out and stood poised to fight some of these stupid shits. But by the time she had stopped, and prepared to kill something, they were gone, buried under the sand once again.
"Oh COME ON!" she shouted, arms spreading out wide as she kept her position. "First you're going to shoot out of the flipping ground, then you're going to chase me, and the second I pull my fucking weapons out, you run away! Cowards! You're just afraid to go up against what you know you can't even handle!" She actually managed to smile a bit, lips curled into a smirk, as she put her sickles away, prepared to continue her stroll down to the water.
And as she took a step, out from the ground came another leever, tossing her into the air momentarily before she fell with a somewhat painful sounding thud. She groaned a bit, and turned to the side, just in time to see the leever bury itself in the sand again. To which, she eloquently responded with an extension of her middle finger before she got up to head to the water's edge, safely this time.
